My classroom uses the blended learning model . I combine online delivery content with classroom interaction such as teacher-led small group instruction and differentiated learning to reach all learners. Blended learning is an education program that combines online digital media with traditional classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some elements of student control over time, place, path, or pace. Blended learning is learning that combines the best of online learning and face-to-face instruction for the purpose of enhancing learning.
Blended Learning and Differentiated Instruction
Station Rotation: Differentiating Instruction to Reach All Students Rotation stations allow students to learn in a range of modalities, while making differentiation manageable for one teacher. Students in my classroom, during specific times during math and reading, will rotate through learning stations that include online content learning, teacher directed small group instruction, and collaboration activities with peers. The online adaptive program called MOBY MAX will be used to help target each student's learning gaps, and provide each student with lessons and assessments to help them learn. Differentiation during station rotation helps the students feel successful and supported during their learning. Although the content is the same, having the stations allows me to tailor my lessons to each individual group of learners.
Blended Learning & Curriculum Schedule
Usually, our schedule during the math and reading/literacy learning time will include the following components:
*Review of previously learning concept/standard
*Whole group mini lesson and/or number talk (math)
*Break off into small groups--usually three rotations each day-each rotation is approximately 20 min.
Differentiation takes two forms: The first is by student grouping and the second is by modality of learning. We have twenty minutes per station and there are three stations. The students will rotate through all three stations each day.
Stations: *Computer-based instruction (MobyMax)
*Teacher-led instruction with small learning groups *Collaborative activities/stations
